Fair Pay for Fledglings

All projects are clearly scoped with a defined output and a fee agreed upfront. Projects start from £100 per month depending on scope and intensity.

Some are short, one-off projects - a social media set-up, a content audit, a newsletter system built and handed back to you. Others grow into ongoing monthly work once you've seen what your Fledgling can do. There's no minimum commitment either way.

We classify projects by intensity:

  • Very light: approximately 3 to 4 hours a week
  • Light: approximately 5 to 8 hours a week
  • Medium: approximately 1 to 2 days a week
  • Heavy: approximately 3 to 5 days a week

For month one, we strongly recommend adding Swan oversight, an experienced marketing professional who stays close to the project so you don't have to.

For internships and longer placements, Fledglings are paid directly by you at an agreed rate. Visit our embedded placements page for full details.

Beyond pay, we ask every business to commit to the full picture of what they are offering: feedback, support and a genuine reference. That is what makes this valuable experience, not just affordable help.

Ways to Work with a Fledgling

Project Match

£30 per month platform fee

A curated introduction to one Fledgling for a clearly scoped project. The project fee is agreed directly with your Fledgling upfront, we just keep things running smoothly in the background.

Discuss a Project
  • A clearly defined project with trained, mentored early-career talent.
  • Perfect for businesses who need help getting something started or completing a specific piece of work.
  • You share a brief and we personally match you with suitable Fledglings.
  • No introduction fee, you only pay us if you make a hire - a £30 (+ VAT) admin fee each month, plus the agreed project fee for the Fledgling.
  • No conversion fee if you later hire them permanently.

Embedded Placement

£600 placement fee

Work experience, internships and development placements run properly, fairly, and without the admin headache.

  • Full sourcing, screening and shortlisting. You pay your Fledgling directly at an agreed rate.
    For organisations who want a Fledgling more deeply integrated into their team, a micro internship lets you try before you commit to a full hire
  • Every placement is a genuine, paid opportunity - good for the Fledgling's career, and good for your ESG and DEI credentials
  • If a placement goes well, we can help you convert to a fully funded apprenticeship - now 100% government funded for SMEs with a £2,000 hiring incentive from October 2026

If the brief changes significantly, this may count as a new match.
